J. League second-division club Yokohama FC has received an offer from Australian side Sydney FC to acquire the services of veteran forward Kazuyoshi Miura on loan, Yokohama FC officials said Tuesday.

Yokohama FC is puzzled by the offer, which came just two months after Miura's transfer from Vissel Kobe of the J. League's top flight.

The former Japan international star has since helped boost support for the team.

Sources close to the move said Sydney FC made the offer in an apparent bid to have Miura play for the Oceania champions at the FIFA Club World Championship to be played in Japan in December.

Miura could be a major attraction for the tournament, which features no teams from host Japan after Yokohama F. Marinos and Jubilo Iwata were eliminated from the Asian Champions League with first-round defeats, the sources said.
