Dai Tamesue, who captured the men's 400-meter hurdle bronze at the world championships last month, will sit out the upcoming Seiko Super track and field meet due to an ankle injury, the Japan Association of Athletics Federations said Tuesday.
Tamesue decided withdraw from the annual meet to be held next Monday at Nissan Stadium in Yokohama after last weekend's medical checks revealed a slightly pulled muscle around his right Achilles tendon.
Tamesue sustained the ankle injury during the final of the world championships in Helsinki and missed the Sept. 9-10 IAAF World Athletics Final in Monaco.
