Softbank Hawks right-hander Kazumi Saito was named Tuesday the Pacific League MVP for the month of August after winning all five starts to match a Japanese record with a 15-0 start to a season.
Saito won the award for the second time, while Orix Buffaloes outfielder Karim Garcia picked up the monthly award in the position player category for the first time as he led the league with 10 homers and 23 RBIs.
In the Central League, the monthly awards went to Yokohama BayStars right-hander Daisuke Miura and Yakult Swallows outfielder Norichika Aoki.
