Fiorentina midfielder Hidetoshi Nakata is set to move to England Premier League club Bolton on a one-year loan, officials of his Italian Serie A club said Wednesday.

According to Fiorentina, both sides have reached a basic agreement on a contract for the 28-year-old Nakata ahead of the start of the Premiere League season on Saturday.

Nakata signed a three-year deal with Fiorentina in July last year but failed to find the net in 20 games with the Italian first-division side after being sidelined through injury for part of last season.

He joined Perugia in 1998 after a stint with Belmare Hiratsuka in the J. League and went on to play in Serie A for Roma, Parma and Bologna before joining Fiorentina, and has a career 24 goals in the Italian top flight.

Bolton, where Cerezo Osaka's Akinori Nishizawa played for in 2001-2002, finished in sixth place last season.
