With trick plays and acrobatic shooting action accompanied by hip-hop music, a rebel brand of basketball is coming to Japan again.
The AND1 Mix Tape Tour, a popular street basketball event in the United States, will extend its tour to Japan this fall, organizers announced Thursday at InterFM in Tokyo. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Nov. 13 at Ryogoku Kokugikan sumo arena.
The tour is run by basketball shoe company AND1 and is gaining nationwide popularity in the U.S., making the cover of the June 13 issue of Sports Illustrated.
The Mix Tape Tour features players showing off their unique ball-handling techniques, pin-point passing and dynamic moves.
Among the players visiting Japan will be former NBA player Lonnie Harrell (aka Prime Objective), Grayson Boucher (aka The Professor), Waliyy Dixon (aka Main Event) and Aaron Owens (aka AO).
Tickets are available over the Internet at www.and1.co.jp and at Ticket Pia, Lawson, e+, and Disk Garage after Aug. 20.
