Akihiro Yano hit a two-run double and Naohisa Sugiyama pitched one-run ball over seven strong innings, carrying the Central-League leading Hanshin Tigers to a 5-2 victory over the Hiroshima Carp on Saturday.

Yano opened the scoring with his double off Yasuhiro Oyamada (5-8) in the second inning and Hanshin added three runs in the fifth to extend the lead at Koshien Stadium.

Sugiyama (5-4) allowed four hits, walked one and hit a batter in earning the win to help hand Hiroshima its fifth straight defeat. The Tigers moved to a season-high 20 games over .500.
