The top Kanto college football players will team up with two Ivy League schools for an exhibition game this Sunday at Komazawa Track and Field Stadium in Tokyo, the organizers announced on Wednesday.
The '05 Ivy-Samurai Bowl will feature former Brown University players and selected members from Kanto Collegiate League Block A schools playing for the Bears against a team made up of ex-Columbia University players and Block B college students representing the Lions.
The number of former U.S. college players is limited to four per team.
Brown has also sent over head coach Phil Dean Estes together with his five position coaches, while Columbia head coach Robert H. Shoop has brought six of his assistants to Japan.
The coaches will hold four practice sessions with the Japanese players in addition to holding a coaching clinic at Ajinomoto Stadium on Saturday.
The Lions will feature safety Steve Cargile, who spent last season with the Dallas Cowboys practice squad but was cut last month. The converted wide receiver recorded 99 tackles in 10 games during the 2003 season.
The kickoff is scheduled for noon.
