Japan coach Zico has asked his players to wear their hearts on their sleeves as the Asian champion seeks to complete its mission of advancing to the World Cup finals against North Korea in Bangkok on Wednesday.

Japan needs only a draw in the controversial Group B qualifier being played behind closed doors at National Stadium and Zico said his players must show passion and stay totally focused in order to finish the job.

"We have a vital game coming up and the players are motivated and focused and must leave everything on the pitch," the Brazilian coach told a pre-match news conference.

"It doesn't matter how good you are technically. If you don't have heart then you have nothing."
