Japan striker Yoshito Okubo produced a five-star display to boost Real Mallorca's hopes of survival in the Spanish first division after a priceless 3-0 away win to Deportivo Coruna on Sunday.

The bustling former Cerezo Osaka marksman provided first-half goals for Francisco Farinos and Juan Arango with a pair of pinpoint crosses from the right flank to put the islanders in control after 37 minutes.

Okubo, who scored in his Mallorca debut against Deportivo in January, then completed a superb performance by bagging his second goal in as many matches in the 63rd minute to help lift his side out of the bottom three with one match left to play.

Mallorca climbed to 17th in the table on 38 points, one ahead of Levante, which was held to a 0-0 draw at home to Valencia.
