Midfielder Homare Sawa struck the 50th and 51st goals of her international career as Japan's women demolished New Zealand 6-0 in a friendly in Tokyo on Saturday.
Making her 93rd appearance for the national team, Sawa swept home a cross from Shinobu Ono in the 27th minute at Nishigaoka Stadium before Yuki Nagasato extended the lead for the Athens Olympics quarterfinalists eight minutes later. Sawa and Nagasato both added to their tallies after the break and Aya Miyama made it five before Akiko Sudo completed the rout two minutes from time.
