The Japan Rugby Football Union formally presented its bid to host Rugby World Cup 2011 to the International Rugby Board on Monday.
The tender document was handed to the IRB in Dublin by Noburo Mashimo, chairman of the JRFU, and Secretary Koji Tokumasu. The document substantiates that Japan has met the criteria for being a host site for the RWC 2011, and "objectively demonstrates great vision and enthusiasm for the future global diffusion and development of rugby, centered on Asia."
The two other countries hoping to host the tournament, South Africa and New Zealand, have until May 13th to deliver their tender documents. An inspection team from the IRB will visit Japan and the final decision as to who will host RWC 2011 will be made Nov. 18th.
