Ono on target
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Kyodo) Japan midfielder Shinji Ono scored a goal that sparked Feyenoord's 4-1 victory at home to Roda JC in the Dutch top division Sunday.
Ono opened the scoring with a sixth-minute free kick from 20 meters that took a deflection off the wall of defenders and went into the right corner of the net. It was his fifth goal of the season in league play.
After Romeo Castelen doubled the lead in the 23rd minute and Roda pulled one back through Arouna Kone seven minutes after the break, Ono was brought down in the box and Dirk Kuijt converted the resultant penalty in the 69th.
