Former Japan star Mikiko Hagiwara is expected to take over as manager for the women's basketball national team, making her the first woman ever to coach Japan's national team, basketball sources said Monday.
The Japan Basketball Association will officially appoint the 34-year-old Hagiwara, a Fukushima native, to the post after an executive committee meeting Friday.
