Japan striker Yoshito Okubo of Spanish club Mallorca said Saturday he will get his injured right knee examined in Japan later this month.

Okubo, who has been playing with a fractured kneecap sustained in his impressive Mallorca debut on Jan. 9, will leave the team for a brief stay in Japan and return in time for a home clash with Levante on Feb. 27.

"I still feel pain when extra pressure is put on my knee and it looks like it hasn't healed naturally yet," Okubo said after playing as a second-half substitute in a 2-0 loss at Barcelona.
