The second name to be inscribed onto the Microsoft Cup will be Toshiba Brave Lupus following Sunday's final at Tokyo's Chichibunomiya.

In a tense, hard-fought war of attrition, the Top League champion beat Yamaha Jubilo 20-6 to bag its second piece of silverware this season.

But such are the high standards at Toshiba that the players realize there is still unfinished business.

"Please keep cheering for us in the All Japan Championship," Toshiba captain Teppei Tomioka told the crowd after the game. "We want to capture the Triple Crown."

Toshiba's success has been built on its ability to vary its game as conditions dictate and the first half saw it score two very contrasting tries.

In the 14th minute, fullback Goshi Tachikawa finished off a well-worked backline move to put the Brave Lupus ahead, before the famed Toshiba rolling maul got going to push Yasunori Watanabe over from 15 meters out.

The game was being played almost entirely in the Yamaha half of the field, but with its defense holding firm, Yamaha made the most of its only two incursions into the Toshiba 22, as Nathan Williams slotted over two penalties to cut the deficit to 12-6.

The penalties seemed to revitalize Grant Batty's men and the territorial advantage slowly shifted in Yamaha's direction, but with the final pass not going to hand and Toshiba's tackling remaining firm, the score remained the same until the 72nd minute when Toshiba finally made it deep into Yamaha territory.

After Tomioka and Daisuke Mori had both been tackled just short of the line, the Yamaha backs were caught offside and Daisuke Hihara slotted over the penalty.

Tachikawa's second try in the 80th minute was simply the icing on the cake.
