Cardiff City has agreed with West Bromwich Albion on a loan extension for Japan international midfielder Junichi Inamoto until the end of March, Cardiff boss Lennie Lawrence said on Saturday.

Cardiff and Albion had agreed that his loan contract could be extended by up to three months depending on the results of monthly reviews of his performances after he joined second-tier City from the Premier League club in December.

Struggling Cardiff has seen an upturn in form since former Arsenal and Fulham man Inamoto arrived at Ninian Park from the Hawthorns.

West Brom has the right to call back Inamoto at any time during the extension period, should his services be required at the Midlands club.

Lawrence said he wants to pick Inamoto for the Feb. 6 trip to West Ham, just three days before Japan hosts North Korea in a World Cup qualifier.
