Jubilo Iwata has signed Japan goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi to a provisional contract and are set to finalize the deal early next month, officials of the J. League first-division side said Monday.
Kawaguchi, whose deal with Danish side FC Nordsjaelland expired at the end of last month, will be officially introduced at a news conference Tuesday alongside Iwata coach Masakuni Yamamoto after Kawaguchi agreed to a contract which will run from January.
The 29-year-old was transferred from Portsmouth to FC Nordsjaelland in August 2003 after spending more than a year and a half on the sidelines with the English Premier League club.
