Toru Taniguchi, who rebounded in 2004 following a season plagued with health problems, was named the Most Valuable Player by the Japan Golf Tour Organization for the second time in his career Monday.
Taniguchi finished second on the money list this season after capturing the Japan Open in October for his first title in two years on the tour and winning the Bridgestone Open the following week.
The number of titles won during the season, money-ranking position and average number of strokes is converted into points to decide the winner of the award.
