Three Athens Olympic gold medalists from overseas will take part in the Kano Cup men's international open-weight judo tournament next month, the All Japan Judo Federation said Friday.
Ihar Makarau of Belarus, winner of the 100-kg class, Zurab Zviadauri of Georgia, winner of the 90-kg, and Ilias Iliadis of Greece, winner of the 81-kg, are among the 25 overseas invitees for the Jan. 9 meet at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo.
Kosei Inoue, who moved up a rank to the over 100-kg division, Olympic gold medalist Keiji Suzuki (over 100-kg) and Olympic silver medalist Hiroshi Shimizu (90-kg) and five others are entered from Japan.
