The Chunichi Dragons have acquired Central League home-run king Tyrone Woods, signing the 35-year-old to a two-year deal worth an estimated 1 billion yen, Chunichi officials said Thursday.

"I'm pleased to have been able to join the club I wanted to move to and hope to do even better here playing for the league champions," Woods said.

Woods joined the Yokohama BayStars in 2003 after four seasons with South Korea's Doosan Bears and hit a league-high 40 home runs in his first season in Japan.

He followed with 45 homers this past season to share the CL title with Tuffy Rhodes of the Yomiuri Giants.
