The J. League executive board officially approved the promotion of Kawasaki Frontale and Omiya Ardija to the first division Monday after they finished the season in the top two of the second division.
J-2 champion Kawasaki and second-placed Omiya earned the automatic promotion berths to the top flight, which will expand to 18 clubs next season from 16.
