Fujiidera Stadium, which was used as the Kintetsu Buffaloes' home field for nearly half a century, will be closed at the end of January following the ballclub's merger with the Orix BlueWave, Buffaloes President Tetsuya Kobayashi said Monday.
Kobayashi said the stadium has become obsolete and there will be no team to use it after the merger gives Orix a controlling stake in the new team -- the Orix Buffaloes.
No decisions have yet been made on what the stadium site will be used for in the future, he said.
