South Korean international Ahn Jung Hwan fractured a bone in his right ankle in a World Cup qualifying match Wednesday and is expected to sit out the rest of the J. League season, Yonhap News Agency reported.

The Yokohama F. Marinos striker left the field 26 minutes into the match against Maldives and, according to the Korean Football Association, is required to undergo surgery which will keep him off the field for at least two months.

South Korea won 2-0 behind second-half goals from Kim Do Heon and Lee Dong Gook to secure the top spot in Group Seven of the Asian zone.
