Japanese international striker Naohiro Takahara scored his third goal of the season as Hamburg SV thumped Hansa Rostock 6-0 in the German Bundesliga on Sunday.

Takahara netted the team's third goal of the match on a cross from Portuguese midfielder Moreira three minutes before the interval for his first goal since a double against Hertha Berlin on Sept. 26.

"I was finally able to score the type goal that I'm capable of," said Takahara, who received the ball on the edge of the area before blasting in a shot off the inside of the post that gave 'keeper Matthias Schober no chance.

Thomas Doll's men moved up to 12th place in the 18-team table with 16 points.

Hansa Rostock coach Juri Schluenz resigned after the game, the most one-sided home loss in its Bundesliga history.
