Hiroyuki Tomita won his first title in two years and third career in the men's individual all-around competition at the gymnastics national championships on Saturday.
Tomita, who was part of the gold-winning Japanese team at the Athens Olympics, collected 56.950 points for his six routines at Yoyogi national gymnasium in Tokyo to outscore second-place Naoya Tsukahara by 0.500 point. In the women's all-around competition, 18-year-old Chihiro Ichikawa won her first national title by earning 35.425 points.
