Pro baseball commentator Takenori Emoto revealed Friday a plan to establish an independent league in Japan from 2006.
Emoto, who has been appointed special adviser of the Calgary Force, a newly formed team that will take part in the independent league in the United States from next year, said he hoped to create such a league in Japan with the help of team joint-owner Hiroaki Misawa.
"We need cooperation from various areas to develop players who are aiming to become pros," said Emoto. Misawa, a representative of a baseball school based in California, will explain the details of the planned independent league at a later date.
