Shinji Ono had a hand in the opening goal to put Feyenoord on the way to a 2-0 win away to Roda JC Kerjrade in the Dutch first division on Sunday.

Ono, who played a pivotal role in helping Japan beat Oman last Wednesday to ensure a place in the final round of Asian qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup, started the move which Dirk Kuijt finished to break the deadlock on the hour.

Ono broke up a Roda attack and quickly fed the ball to Romeo Castelen, who crossed from the right to give Kuijt an easy finish.

Perhaps feeling the effects of a busy week, Ono missed two gilt-edged chances in the second period but Solomon Kalou sealed the win to move Feyenoord level at the top of the table with PSV Eindhoven on 19 points.
