Livedoor Co., the Internet service provider that has applied to own a professional baseball team, said Monday it will hire a force of 180 new employees to help eliminate obscene images from its Web site.
In a bid to clean up its image, Livedoor Vice President Fumito Kumagai said the Internet service provider would increase its staff that handles adult material from 20 to 200 to wipe out sordid images, though eliminating the category completely would be difficult.
"We will try but it will be difficult to completely get rid of the adult category," Kumagai said. "We have decided, however, not to handle any adult software material."
Kumagai, who submitted a paper to the Japanese Pro Baseball Commissioner's Office, was responding to a question raised in the second public hearing by Nippon Professional Baseball last Thursday concerning how Livedoor intends to deal with unsavory content unsuitable to the image of Japanese baseball.
