Players selected from all 12 teams, including the Orix BlueWave and Kintetsu Buffaloes who will merge in the off-season, take part in the East-West exhibition game at Tokyo Dome on Nov. 3, Nippon Professional Baseball said Friday.
The Nippon Ham Fighters and the five teams based in the Kanto region will feature on the East team to be led by Yomiuri Giants manager Tsuneo Horiuchi, while Daiei Hawks manager Sadaharu Oh will head the West squad made up of the other six teams.
The heads of the 12 teams' players associations, winners of this year's individual titles and members of the Athens Olympic team are expected to form the core part of each squad for the exhibition game, NPB officials said.
The two Japanese baseball games due to be played on Friday -- the Yokohama BayStars at the Yakult Swallows and the Yomiuri Giants at the Hanshin Tigers -- were both postponed because of the nearing typhoon.
