Japanese marathon record holder Naoko Takahashi has set her sights on running at next year's world championships, her coach Yoshio Koide said on Monday.
Koide said Takahashi hopes to run at the world championships in Helsinki in August after competing in one of the domestic qualifiers, including the Osaka International Women's Marathon in January or the Nagoya International Women's Marathon in March.
"In her mind she probably knows which qualifier she wants to run at but I'll leave this up to her," said Koide, who returned the same day from Bolder, Colo., where Takahashi is training in the highlands.
The Sydney Olympic gold medalist is scheduled to continue training in Colorado until mid-October.
