Left-hander Keijiro Matsumoto pitched a six-hit shutout Sunday as Chiba Keizaidai Fuzoku beat Toyama Shogyo 1-0 to advance into the last 16 of the National High School Baseball Championship along with Seiko Gakuin and Tokaidai Kofu.

Chiba Keizaidai scored the only run of the game on an RBI single by Kenta Kato in the second and Matsumoto preserved the lead with a nine-strikeout effort over the distance at Koshien Stadium.

Seiko Gakuin of Fukushima Prefecture broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning and opened up a five-run lead in the seventh on its way to an 8-4 victory over Wakayama Shogyo.

Katsuya Matsuzaki had three hits, including a bases-loaded double in the seventh.

Takaidai Kofu of Yamanashi capitalized on four errors to eliminate first-timer Sadowara from Miyazaki with a 6-2 win.
