Japan came from behind to beat the United States 6-3 for its third straight victory on Sunday and won the Japan-U.S. collegiate baseball championship for the first time in three tournaments.

The victory at Yokosuka Stadium was Japan's 11th in as many tournaments it has hosted and 13th overall.

Hitoshi Miki earned the win after the Hachinohe University right-hander gave up three runs in six innings.

Japan and the United States still have two games left to play with the next one scheduled for Tuesday at Omiya stadium in Saitama Prefecture.

Japan, guided by Tetsuo Yamaji, who served as coach when Japan lost all five games in the championship held in the United States last year, won the first two games 6-3 and 3-1.
