Former Japan midfielder Kazuyuki Toda will rejoin Shimizu S-Pulse on Thursday following the completion of his loan deal at Dutch club ADO Den Haag, officials of the J. League first division club said on Wednesday.
Toda joined Den Haag in January after an unsuccessful spell at English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. The tough-tackling 26-year-old's loan deal with the Dutch outfit expired Wednesday and he is set to start training with his Shimizu teammates on Monday.
Toda is keen to continue plying his trade abroad but will be turning out for S-Pulse in the J. League second stage kicking off on Aug. 14 if he fails to land a contract with an overseas club.
Morimoto sidelined
Tokyo Verdy's teenage striker Takayuki Morimoto has pulled out of this weekend's JOMO All-Star match due to a knee problem, the J. League announced Wednesday.
On Monday the 16-year-old, who this season became the youngest ever player to appear and score in the J. League, was selected for the J. East team for the match at Niigata Stadium Big Swan on Saturday.
However, tests on Tuesday revealed that Morimoto has inflamed ligaments in his right knee and he was told by doctors that he must rest the knee for two weeks.
