Yoshitomo Tani and Roosevelt Brown both hit two-run homers and Kazuhiko Shiotani added a solo shot as the last-place Orix BlueWave beat the Chiba Lotte Marines 6-1 Monday night for their third win in six games.

Tani delivered in a three-run fourth and Brown in the seventh to give the BlueWave a 5-1 lead before Shiotani capped the scoring with a leadoff shot in the eighth at Yahoo BB Stadium.

Hidetaka Kawagoe (3-3) struck out 10, walked one and allowed one run on seven hits in eight innings for the win.

Marines starter Naoyuki Shimizu (3-6) took the loss after allowing five runs on 11 hits. Lotte ended its winning streak after four games.

At Tokyo Dome, Nobuhiko Matsunaka hit two of Daiei's five homers and drove in four runs as the Hawks beat Nippon Ham to give Sadaharu Oh his 1,000th career win as manager.

Nippon Ham's Fernando Seguignol hit his league-leading 22nd homer in the third inning.

At Osaka Dome, Kazuhiro Wada hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning as Seibu edged Kintetsu.

Gaillard heading to U.S.

YOKOHAMA (Kyodo) Yokohama BayStars right-hander Eddie Gaillard, who has been diagnosed with inflammation in the elbow of his throwing arm, will undergo an examination in the U.S., officials of the Central League said Monday.

Gaillard's doctor in the United States received results of the test done on the 33-year-old at a Yokohama hospital and said a more detailed examination will be necessary.

Gaillard has a 2-2 record with an 8.31 ERA in 13 games.
