Yasuyuki Konno scored in the final minutes of regulation time Wednesday as Japan's Under-23 Olympic squad played to 1-1 draw with Turkey in an international friendly.
Konno's header in the 88th minute saved Japan in an otherwise sluggish performance before 30,000 at Ajinomoto Stadium.
Huseyin Kartal scored from close range in the 53rd minute to give Turkey the lead but Konno took advantage of sloppy defensive play by the visitors to pull Japan even just before the whistle.
Japan's Sota Hirayama missed a glorious opportunity to give the hosts a come-from-behind victory when he fired straight into the arms of Turkey's goalkeeper Metin Aktas in the last seconds of play.
