NEW YORK -- Kazuo Matsui hit a leadoff homer in the first inning to jump-start his team's offense as the New York Mets went on to beat the Colorado Rockies 5-4 on Saturday.
Matsui connected to right field off Aaron Cook for his fourth home run this season as the Mets took a 3-0 lead through the first at Shea Stadium. The Japanese shortstop went 1-for-4 with an RBI and struck out swinging.
