Rikkyo University (St. Paul's University) third-year student Yasuaki Hino pitched a no-hitter to lead his team to a 7-0 victory over Waseda University in a Tokyo Big Six league game on Sunday.
Hino became the 20th player to accomplish the feat in the league when he struck out eight batters over the distance in a 140-pitch outing at Jingu Stadium.
It was the first time a pitcher threw a no-hitter in the Tokyo Big Six since Rikkyo's Satoshi Kamishige held the University of Tokyo hitless in a game in the fall of 2000.
Hino, who is the fifth Rikkyo student to pitch a no-hitter, allowed four walks and hit a batter.
