Triple Olympic champion Marion Jones will not be competing at the IAAF Japan Grand Prix next month. She and 100-meter record holder Tim Montgomery were reported to have pulled out of the meet on May 8 in Osaka.
"At no point was she ever confirmed," Lewis Kay, a representative for Jones, told The Associated Press.
He dismissed the notion that Jones was not in top condition or that the time zone was a factor. Jones and Montgomery, who have a son together, are to compete at a meet in Jamaica on May 7. Japanese meet organizers were not available for comment.
