LOS ANGELES -- Kazuo Matsui opened the game with a leadoff homer for his first hit in three games and connected for a single off Eric Gagne in the ninth inning, but the New York Mets fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Wednesday.
Matsui's homer off southpaw Odalis Perez from the right side of the plate was his first since he hit from the left side in the April 6 season opener against the Atlanta Braves. He grounded twice, struck out looking once and went 2-for-5.
