Japanese pitcher Kazuhito Tadano was called up by the Cleveland Indians, local media reported on Saturday.
The 23-year-old pitcher, who went 0-2 this season in the minor leagues with Triple-A Buffalo, is expected to join the Indians for Saturday's game against the Detroit Tigers, the Nikkan Sports newspaper reported on its Web site.
With the promotion, Tadano becomes the 21st Japanese player to join a major league team and only the second after Mac Suzuki to go to the majors without professional experience in the Japanese leagues.
Tadano signed with the Indians last March. In January, he admitted to taking part in a gay porn video three years ago when he was in college.
"All of us have made mistakes in our lives," Tadano said in a statement in January. "Hopefully, you learn from them and move on."
Tadano won 20 games for Rikkyo University in the Tokyo Big Six League before signing with the Indians.
