The Japan Volleyball Association said Thursday that Seiji Oko, who was the ace spiker on the gold-winning men's team in the 1972 Munich Olympics, will be inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in the U.S. state of Massachusetts.
The 56-year-old Oko, who was the head coach of the national team in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, will be the fifth Japanese inducted into the sport's Hall of Fame following Yasutaka Matsudaira (1998), Hirofumi Daimatsu (2000), Takako Shirai (2000) and Jungo Morita (2003).
