The American Football Association of Japan said Tuesday it has been moving forward in a bidding process that will make Japan a candidate to host the 2007 American Football World Cup.
The AFAJ will look for a committee that will support the idea of Japan hosting the third World Cup in the sport and will officially apply via the governing body, the International Federation of American Football, as soon as it finds a venue for the event.
The IFAF set the application deadline for April 30, 2005. Japan won the past two World Cups that were held in Italy in 1999 and Germany in 2003.
