Grand champion Asashoryu sent rank-and-filer Tosanoumi flying off the raised dirt mound Tuesday to maintain his perfect record at the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament.
Asashoryu came close to going down himself before grabbing hold of the No. 4 maegashira's waist and sending him off the mound and into the front row of the audience at Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium. Tosanoumi fell to 1-9 while Asashoryu improved to 10-0.
Asashoryu is aiming for a repeat of the New Year's tourney, which he won with a perfect 15-0 record.
