Fernando Seguignol hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning Saturday to lead the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters to a 10-4 win over the Yomiuri Giants in a preseason game at Sapporo Dome. Playing before a crowd of 41,000, the Fighters also got homers from Angel Echevarria, Michihiro Ogasawara, Makoto Kaneko and Shinji Takahashi en route to the one-sided victory. Yomiuri starter Hisanori Takahashi took the loss after being rocked for eight runs on eight hits over five innings. Nippon Ham starter Tsutomu Iwamoto picked up the win after holding the Giants to two runs on five hits over six innings. At Osaka Dome, Masahiro Abe hit a two-run homer in the second inning to power the Kintetsu Buffaloes to a 4-0 win over the Hanshin Tigers. Kintetsu starter Hisashi Iwakuma struck out five while holding the Tigers scoreless over six innings to pick up the win. At Yahoo BB Stadium, Soichiro Amaya drove in a pair of runs with a triple in the seventh inning to power the Hiroshima Carp to a 5-3 victory over the Orix BlueWave. (AP)
