Osamu Sato and Takefumi Sakata will take part in a World Boxing Association double-header in Tokyo in June, their promoter Kyoei Gym said Monday.
Sato will face featherweight champion Chris John of Indonesia while Sakata, who once owned the national flyweight crown, will take on flyweight champion Lorenzo Parra of Venezuela in the June 4 event at Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo.
Should Sato, the former WBA super bantamweight champion, win the bout, he will become only the sixth Japanese boxer ever to win world titles in two different weight categories. Sakata will be taking his first shot at a world title.
