Kosuke Kitajima rewrote his own national short-course mark in the men's 100-meter breaststroke at a winter time trials meet at Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center on Sunday.
Kitajima, the long-course world record holder in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, touched the wall in 58.23 seconds to eclipse his previous Japanese record of 58.24 set in Berlin at a World Cup event in January.
