Yokozuna Asashoryu ruled the roost on Saturday as he claimed victory on the first day of the South Korean tour featuring wrestlers from sumo's elite makuuchi division. The Mongolian brawler dispatched crowd favorite Takamisakari with a frontal forceout in the semifinal round before heaving out ozeki Tochiazuma in the final in front of 6,568 spectators at Chamsil indoor gymnasium in Seoul. After the opening ceremony of the tour on Saturday and Sunday in Seoul and on Wednesday in Pusan, the 40 wrestlers involved demonstrated various movements in the ancient Japanese sport and children participated in an exhibition training session.
