The Seattle Mariners all-time saves leader Kazuhiro Sasaki said Tuesday he has signed a contract with the Yokohama BayStars, though details of the deal were undisclosed.
This season, Sasaki will be rejoining the Central League club for whom he pitched for 10 seasons as their top draft pick in 1990 after he forfeited the final year of a two-year deal with the Mariners to spend more time with his family in Japan.
"I just signed the papers, and I'm officially a member of the BayStars. I'm relieved," Sasaki said at a news conference attended by team president Susumu Minegishi, owner Yukio Sunahara and Yokohama Mayor Hiroshi Nakata.
