Naoko Takahashi, winner of the women's marathon at the Sydney Olympics, said Monday she will announce whether she will run in the Nagoya International Women's Marathon on the registration deadline day Wednesday.
Takahashi said she has already made up her mind but will wait till the deadline day to go public with her decision on the March 14 race, which is also the final qualifying race for the Athens Olympics, with two of Japan's three women's marathon berths left open.
"I haven't talked to my coach yet, so I can't say anything now. I think I'll make the announcement Wednesday," the 31-year-old said.
