Yukio Okabe became the oldest jockey, at the age of 55 years and two months, to ride and win a Japan Racing Association (JRA) race when he made his comeback after a 13-month absence and won the ninth race at Nakayama Racecourse on Sunday.
Okabe, who left action for health reasons after placing third in the Arima Kinen in December 2002, won the second of three races he took part in atop winning favorite Dance in the Moon to stretch his all-time record of total JRA wins to 2,881. He was fourth and 14th in the other races.
